The holiday season is the perfect time to don your hostess hat, gather your friends and throw together a festive party they won’t forget. Here are some handy tips that will ensure both you and your guests to have a great time:

Get as much done as possible ahead of time so you won’t be frantic the day of the party. If you’re hosting the party at home, plan to decorate your house both inside and out with festive decorations, lights and a holiday tree. The holiday season is a busy time of year for most people, so make sure to send out invitations either through e-mail, mail or phone well in advance. Go through the list of guests you are thinking of inviting and choose a mixture of friends that are both single and married to balance your party out.

Decide on whether you would like a sit down formal party, or if a buffet style gathering would be more suitable. Select a menu that will not only be easy to serve, but won’t cause you lots of last minute preparations. If you have limited seating, a great idea is to place appetizers and desserts on a buffet table so guests can mingle and walk around while eating. Choose food items that won’t have you busy in the kitchen instead of visiting with your guests.

Set up a separate area as a cocktail station where guests can serve their own beverages. A cost cutting idea is to mix up pitchers of sangria, margaritas or martini’s, so you don’t have to get out everything in your liquor cabinet. Make sure to have non-alcoholic choices like soda, ice tea or lemonade on hand also for guests. Another item you will want to make sure to not run out of is ice.

Try to get everyone active and involved by either playing games or singing holiday songs. Put together holiday trivia, Bingo or charades and have small prizes on hand for the winners. Select several holiday songs and hand out song sheets for guests to sing along to get in the holiday spirit.

Don’t forget to have a good time at your own party. Clean up can wait until after your guests leave, so make sure to mingle and chat with your guests. Be on hand and ready to greet them when they walk through the door and say goodbye when they are ready to leave.

With a traced history in a lottery in 1530 and invention in 1929, who would have thought that this old card game can go this far? The bingo which was just a common game at carnivals and houses before has grown and is still growing to be very popular and has reached not only the casinos but the internet as well! Yes, there are now online bingo sites where one can play and interact with the other players from all over the world at the comfort of your own home and while doing something else! In fact, at Wikipedia, it is stated that more than millions of people especially the women between 20 – 25 years old now play online bingo in the US, UK and other countries.

The development of our technology has clearly made way to the breakthrough of online bingo. Aside from the accessibility of these bingo sites, they, now, also offer a wide variation of bingo game and other games to choose from. Not to mention the attractive bonuses, inexpensive game rooms, side games and other promos that these bingo sites had came up with to better entertain and retain their customers. One additional factor of this online game’s popularity is the availability of chat rooms. With this chat functionality, players can now gain friends from anywhere across the world and share their insights and tips pertaining to the game of bingo and, perhaps, other matters. Another wonderful features of these websites are the “Best Card Highlighting” which sort the player’s card and highlight the one closest to bingo and “Auto-daub” which automatically marks off the numbers on the cards the moment the numbers are called thus making it easier for the players and giving them time to chat or play some side games.

So, what are you waiting for? Try it now! Who knows you might be the next one to shout “BINGO”!

I am one of the many who ask the same question : what is the difference between POP and IMAP email settings?

POP is short for Post Office Protocol, a protocol used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server. Most e-mail applications use the POP protocol, although some can use the newer IMAP.

As per my research, IMAP offers a two-way communication between your hosting mailbox and your email client. When you perform an action on your mailbox, it is immediately reflected on the email clients and mobile devices viceversa. Example, when you are at work and you begin to create a message and save it, it will still be in intact when you log in from a different client or area or different gadget.

Starting today, I will use IMAP from now on. I access from emails from my Macbook in the office, Netbook when I go out, Blackberry Bold and my PC desktop at home. I am used to using POP account, I guess its time to make a move because IMAP simply provides a better method to access my mail from multiple devices through two-way syncing capabilities between my mail clients and the our hosting mailbox.

Just take note though that since IMAP saves all your messages on the server, be sure to frequently clean up your mailbox, deleting old messages.

For any senior citizens who are encountering financial crisis, reverse mortgage would be a great solution. Confused? Then let’s get to know why.

A reverse mortgage is a special kind of loan involving the equity of your house. It lets you convert a portion of your house’s equity into money without having to sell it or pay additional monthly bills. its loan advances are tax-free and will not, generally, affect your benefits. Unlike the traditional second mortgage, the government reverse mortgages will pay you and is available regardless of your current income. In essence, this type of loan is paid with the homeowner’s equity.

Of course, there are qualifications set up for those who want to avail this type of loan. Firstly, the borrower has to be a 62 years old or older homeowner. Secondly, the house of the borrower should be able to meet the required feature as indicated. Which mean that it has to be a single house, a condominium or town home. Mobile homes that fall within certain guidelines are also eligible.

With a reverse mortgage, the borrower doesn’t have to make monthly payment to the lender since the loan does not have to be repaid until the home is sold, the borrower dies, or the borrower no longer lives in the mortgaged home as principal residence like if he or she is put in an elder care facility. In this type of loan, the homeowner can get the funds in multiple ways such as in multiple payments or in lump sum.

It is important to remember though that with this type of loan, you retain the title of your home so you still have to pay the property taxes, insurance, utilities and other expenses. If not, your loan may become due and payable.

Of course, every borrower desires to have the best deal they can. In any loan including the reverse mortgage, borrowers should be careful and wary of the sales pitches. So if you’re thinking of getting a reverse mortgage now, start shopping around and talk your way to getting the best deal possible!

Goodbye CMFads, goodbye free advertising, goodbye traffic, goodbye micro earnings!

When I logged in today at CMFAds to buy spikes for my blogs, I am surprised to see that they are closing down effective October 30, 2011 but as early as now, there are so many changes. You can’t add any blogs, not even change the photo posted which I just did prior to reading the announcement.

CMFads has been useful to my blogging career to gain traffic, although not that active in clicking the spikes which would give you a micro – $0.002 per click but at least, I did re-invest the amount earned from my blog widget and the spikes clicked into buying a little traffic.
